Rare quote from Ibn Hazm against ta`assub and blind-following:

And here again is that rare quote from Ibn Hazm against ta`assub and blind-following:

    * Muhammad ibn Khaleel al-`Abdaree az-Zaahiree -rahimahullaah- said, as occurs in the introduction to ' al-Mawridul-Ahlaa' (p.343), that Ibn Hazm -rahimahullaah- said, whilst speaking about ta`assub (bigotted attachment):

" And we are not pleased with those who become angry for our sake, rather we are only pleased with those who become angry for the sake of the truth; and we do not become happy with those who support our sayings, rather we only become happy with those who support the truth wherever it is found; and an ignorant person should not show ignorance towards us and think that we are just followers of Aboo Sulaymaan Daawood ibn `Alee. Rather Aboo Sulaymaan is a Shaikh from our Shaikhs, and a teacher from our teachers. If he attained correctness, then we are along with him, following the truth; and if he made a mistake, then we excuse ourselves, and we follow the truth, wherever we understand it to be."
