The Ruling on Taking the Wealth of the People of Divisive Hizbeeyah
Question: Is it permissible for those who follow the way of the Salaf to take assistance which is given from the divisive parties and groups, knowing that these people of hizbeeyah only give them this in order to profit from those who follow the Salaf?
The guiding scholar Shaikh Rabee' answered:
"If it is given from the direction and door of buying, selling and bartering over our beliefs, then it is not permissible. If it occurs in this manner, then it is clearly not permissible.
But these groups [also] take the wealth of the Muslims for the benefit of the Muslim in general [zakat], so if they give it to you without any conditions - and it is needed - then he should take it. However, with the condition that he does not sell his religion away.
Yet in most cases, those people who accept wealth from them degenerate and become no longer upright. So if a Muslim desires to protect his religion and beliefs, then he should do without what wealth they possess, and distance himself from them, and be patient with the difficulties of life until Allaah facilitates matters for him."
