    The Books of Aathaar and their Checking

    What are the books containing the aathaar of the salaf (first three generations)?
    Is it said - saheeh, hasan - when quoting from the salaf*?

    *for example: Fudayl Ibn 'Iyaad, Hasan al-Basree, Sufyan ath Thawree.
