Don't Be Sure That Your Actions Are Accepted (http://31097.multiply.com/journal/item/90/Dont_Be_Sure_That_Your_Actions_Are_Accepted)
The noble Shaykh 'Abdur Razzaaq Ibn 'Abdil-Muhsin al-Badr (hafidhahumullaah) stated:
"It is befitting that we make note that the Muslim has no way of being sure that his actions are accepted no matter how well or good he has done in performing the action. Allaah has mentioned, clarifying the state and affair of the complete believers during the performance of actions by which they seek nearness to Allaah from the acts of obedience: And those who give that which they give with their hearts full of fear because they are sure they are to return to their Lord. (Soorah Mu-minoon: 60)
This means that they give from themselves that which they are commanded with from the acts of worship from Salaah, Zakaah, Hajj, Siyaam (Fasting) and other than that. They are in fear that their actions will not save them or that their acts of worship will not be accepted when their actions are being presented to Allaah and they have to stand in front of Allaah.
Imaam Ahmad mentions in his Musnad on the authority of The Mother of The Believers 'Aa`ishah (radiallaahu 'anha) stated:
"I said: Oh Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) Allaah has said: And those who give that which they give with their hearts full of fear because they are sure they are to return to their Lord. (Soorah Mu-minoon: 60) Is it the man who commits Zinaa (fornication/adultery) and consumes intoxicants? He (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) said: No oh daughter of Abee Bakr/ No oh daughter of as-Siddeeq. However he is the man who fasts, prays and gives charity and yet he fears that it won't be accepted from him."

What Shaikh Falah Isma'eel said about this important matter
Earlier this year when Shaikh Falah Isma'eel (hafidhahullaah) visited New Jersey, he brough this above hadeeth of 'Aa`ishah then explained: [the following are notes]
Today, we feel secure - not in fear - relying only on hope of Allaah.
So test yourself, are you like this? Do you have fear [that your action might not be accepted]? In the hadeeth of the Prophet (salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) mentioning the seven who are shaded under the shade of Allaah, one of them is a man who remembers Allaah and cried for the sake of Allaah. The scholars say: this is the "worship of fear."
Two eyes will not touch the fire: the one who cried for the sake of Allaah, and guarded the Muslims.
One of the conditions of Eeman is fear. If there is Eeman, there has to be fear. Some hearts are like rocks. The Prophets and angels ('alayhimi salaam) feared. The angels are always in fear, awe, reverance.
So practice and train yourself to cry. When you hear/read the Qur`an and you come across the mention of Jannah and fire, you should cry.
When you come across the mention of Jannah -----> Hope
When you come across the mention of Fire-----> Fear
Allaah said (what means): They fear their Lord above them, and they do what they are commanded. (An-Nahl, ayah 50)
Imam Ibnul Qayyim (rahimahullaah) - "the heart doctor" - said: "These are manners we are in need of."
We, today, only fear if we fall into sins.
Imam Ibnul Qayyim said about fearing when we fall into sins: "Even the children have this, and even animals fear."
Shaikh Isma'eel then gave the example of a dog who when he does wrong, he'll run away. Then Shaikh Isma'eel added: "This is good; there are some who don't even do this [fear after sinning or erring]!"
What is better is to:
Pray -----> and then fear [it might not be accepted]
Fast -----> and then fear [it might not be accepted]
The real fear is combining worship and fear.
For six months before Ramadaan, the Salaf (radiallaahu 'anhum) would beg Allaah to allow them to reach Ramadaan, and then for six months afterward, the Salaf would beg Allaah to accept Ramadaan from them.
