Sheikh Dr. Muhammad bin Umar bin Saalim Bazmool hafidhahullah is from the scholars living in Makkah & is currently teaching in college of da'wa and usool ud-Deen, book and sunnah section at Umm al Qura university, Makkah.
In the past years he has taught Kitaab at-Tawheed and Ash-Sharee'ah of Imam Ajuree in Masjid Bin Baz rahimahullaah in al Azizia, Makkah after Sheikh Rabee' couldn't continue teaching Fath al Majeed in the masjid due to his health and hence recommended Sheikh Muhammad Bazmool instead.
He has many good and beneficial books. In his book 'Intisaar ahlil Hadeeth' he has aided the people of Hadeeth where he discusses the ahlul hadeeth being the saved sect and he makes a beautiful defence of the ahlil hadeeth from the likes of Imam Ahmed to sheikh al Muhadith al Allamaa Muhammad Nasrudeen al Albaani rahimahullaah.
He also defends Abu Hurayrah radiallaahu 'anhu who was amongst the first to be accused of memorising too many ahadeeth and without fiqh!!Particular critisism of this companion would come from the blind followers of the Hanafi Madhab and that is why you will find many of the tarajum (chapter heading) - the fiqh of Imam al Bukhaaree in his Saheeh is a refutation of these blind hanafi followers.
Sheikh Muhammad Omar Bazmool has written in issues of Fiqh in his famous books at-Tarjeeh where he has discussed disputed issues and then brought his final verdict after much research.
Sheikh Muhammad Baazmool has written a book on the ruling of the faqeer and miskeen.
He has also worked on Suyooti's 'al Itqaan fi 'uloom al Quraan'. The shiekh has also taught Usool al Tafseer in past years.
One of his famous students is his younger brother Ash-Shaykh Dr. Ahmed Baazmool hafidhahullah (http://www.salafitalk.net/st/viewmessages.cfm?Forum=19&Topic=7856)
May Allah protect the Shaykh and enable us to benefit from him. Aameen.
The above biography is primarily based on the email of Br. Abdulilah Lahmami hafidhahullah on the West London Dawah yahoogroup dated 20/12/2003. I hope other brothers and sisters would add on to this thread to make it comprehensive.
More information...
His kunyah: Aboo Maalik, also called: Aboo Munthir (both are names of his sons - may Allaah bless them, their siblings, and their parents)
His lineage: al-Kindee, from a Yemeni tribe, Kindah, with a rich history
His position in Umm al-Quraa: Among the highest ranking and most respected professors in the university, he teaches in higher studies, oversees MA and PhD research and takes part in their discussion/defense.
Some of his shuyookh: I know that he had significant contact with Shaykh al-Albaanee (may Allaah have Mercy on him) by phone.
Shaykh Saalih al-Fowzaan
Shaykh Rabee' ibn Haadee
Shaykh Yahyaa al-Mudarris
Shaykh 'Abdul-Wakeel al-Haashimee
(may Allaah have Mercy on all of them)
Regarding his aqeedah: The shaykh holds to the 'aqeedah of the salaf, affirming Allaah's Attributes as they came in the texts, refuting and clarifying the errors of the various groups of innovation, like the Jahmiyyah, the Qadariyyah, the Khawaarij, the Murji'ah, and the modern ones like the Ikhwaan and Tableegh.
Regarding his knowledge: The shaykh is known for his in depth knowledge of Qur'aanic Sciences. His writings and teachings are clear proof of strong understanding in many fields, like Hadeeth sciences, tafseer, fiqh, usool al-fiqh, and many others. His PhD was about the different modes of recitation of the Qur'aan and how this relates to the meanings, a valuable book that has been hard to find.
Regarding his manners: The shaykh has always been kind and patient with me, a non-Arab student with flaws in manners and language, taking time to host me in his house in private sittings and answer questions and discuss important matters.
Once, I visited him to ask questions on behalf of the people in the West. He told me that he was pressed for time, but he would try his best to handle all the questions. I asked him questions, one by one, for about 45 minutes, until I exhausted all the questions with me and could not think of any more, and then realized that the tape recorder was never turned on. I was so embarrassed and apologized for wasting his time, to which he simply replied, "Ok - so let's just do it again with the tape recorder on!" We did it again and he answered with the same depth of answers the second time around, without tiring.
He told me that he admired Shaykh al-Albaanee in how he could be asked a question that he recently answered in detail, and the shaykh would answer it again for the new questioner with all the details, never tiring. He said that Shaykh al-Albaanee was very special in this and that he wanted to be like that. (I believe he is!)
He would listen to my questions and re-phrase them for me when they needed that, or refine them, in proper Arabic, to benefit my language skills, and this helped me a lot.
All of the questions you find on bakkah.net (http://bakkah.net/) were posed to him impromptu, without any notice ahead of time, and some of the answers are so detailed and organized you would think they must have been edited or prepared in advance! He is exceptional at organizing his words mentally before speaking.
I could add a lot to this, and maybe I will at a later time in shaa' Allaah. For now I say, this is how I view him, and Allaah is his true Reckoner, and I praise none above Allaah!
