Bismillaah Al-Hamdulillaah wa salatu wa salaamu 'ala rasulullaah
Amma-ba'd
Allaah, The All-Knowing, The All-Wise, said:
الْيَوْمَ أَكْمَلْتُ لَكُمْ دِينَكُمْ وَأَتْمَمْتُ عَلَيْكُمْ نِعْمَتِي وَرَضِيتُ لَكُمُ الإِسْلاَمَ دِينا
...This day, I have perfected your religion for you, completed My Favor upon you, and have chosen for you Islaam as your religion... (Al-Maa`idah, ayah 3)
The Messenger of Allaah (sallAllaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said: There is nothing that will take you closer to Paradise except that I have commanded you with it, and there is nothing that will take you closer to Hellfire except that I have warned you from it. [Musnad ash-Shafi'ee]
Ibn Taymeeyah: The Stronger a slave's Eemaan (is) in the Completeness of the Religion, the Further he is from Deviating from it
Abu Remlah Adam Amreeki (hafidhahullaah) relayed that Shaikh Abu Muhammad Ahmad as-Subay'ee (hafidhahullaah) said:
Shaikh-ul-Islaam Ibn Taymeeyah (d. 728H, rahimahullaah) said: "The stronger a slave's Eemaan (is) in the completeness of the Religion, the further he is from deviating from it."
Allaah said:
وَمَا مِنْ دَابَّة ٍ فِي الأَرْضِ وَلاَ طَائِر ٍ يَطِيرُ بِجَنَاحَيْهِ إِلاَّ أُمَمٌ أَمْثَالُكُمْ مَا فَرَّطْنَا فِي الْكِتَابِ مِنْ شَيْء ٍ ثُمَّ إِلَى رَبِّهِمْ يُحْشَرُونَ
There is not a moving (living) creature on earth, nor a bird that flies with its two wings, but are communities like you. We have neglected nothing in the Book, then unto their Lord they (all) shall be gathered. (Al-An'aam, ayah 38)
Allaah said:
وَنَزَّلْنَا عَلَيْكَ الْكِتَابَ تِبْيَانا ً لِكُلِّ شَيْء ٍ وَهُدى ً وَرَحْمَة ً وَبُشْرَى لِلْمُسْلِمِينَ
And We have sent down to you the Book (the Qur`aan) as an exposition of everything, a guidance, a mercy, and glad tidings for those who have submitted themselves (to Allaah as Muslims). (An-Nahl, ayah 89)
Shaykh Rabee' Ibn Haadee Ibn 'Umayr al-Madkhalee (hafidhahullaah) said (http://www.salafibookstore.com/sbs/new/sbs.cfm?scn=productsdisplay&catID=4&subID=0&prodID=525), in his highly beneficial SharH of Imaam Ahmad's Usool-us-Sunnah, specifically Imaam Ahmad's statement 'There is no analogy in the Sunnah':
"...With this principle, Al-Imaam Ahmad (d. 241H, rahimahullaah) is refuting the likes of these people (those who exaggerate in qiyaas) because in certain unique cases analogy is used but it is, as they say, like the dead meat that is only eaten during times of complete necessity. Rather, Shaykh Al-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah (rahimahullaah) mentioned in one of his small works Ma'aarij Al-Wusool in clarifying that the Messenger (sallAllaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) explained the Primary and Secondary Affairs of the Religion: ...'Based on examinations, there is no consensus (ijma') except that we find a text to support it.'
Likewise, no group used (a correct) analogy except that there is a text with the same meaning, but the people vary in their grasp of the text (Qur`aan and Sunnah). Only a small amount of people understood the text like Al-Imaam Ahmad or (even) come close to his understanding. Because of this, you find many scholars have used analogy correctly, with the guidance of Allaah. But with a more expansive study of the prophetic Sunnah, a text would be found in the Islaamic Legislation (about the same issue). This is because the Messenger (sallAllaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) clarified every aspect of the religion, the primary and secondary affairs, and did not leave (out) anything.
Allaah said:
مَا فَرَّطْنَا فِي الْكِتَابِ مِنْ شَيْء ٍ ثُمَّ إِلَى رَبِّهِمْ يُحْشَرُون
...We have neglected nothing in the Book, then unto their Lord they (all) shall be gathered. (Al-An'aam, ayah 38)

Our religion is complete, free from deficiencies. Some people exert great effort using analogies. Their analogy may be correct and in agreement with the text, but there may be a legislative text concerning the issue that has not reached them. ...These scholars find that there are correct analogies, but there are narrations from the noble Messenger (sallAllaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) that they did not have knowledge of.
Hence, Al-Imaam Ahmad was very stern in refuting the usage of analogy..."
So the stronger a slave's Eeman is in the completion and perfection of the Religion, the further he will be from innovating and seeking to get nearer to Allaah with something opposing what Allaah Ta'aala revealed.
In the same book, Shaykh Rabee' (may Allaah - Al-Haafidh, Al-Hafeedh, Al-Walee, al-Wakeel - protect and aid him) quoted the insightful statement of Imaam Ibnul-Qayyim (d. 751H, rahimahullaah): "Bid'ah derives from Kufr and (also) leads to it."
Shaykh Muhammad ibn 'Abdul-Wahhaab al-Wasabee (hafidhahullaah) said (http://www.salafitalk.net/st/viewmessages.cfm?Forum=%208&Topic=8133): "Every person who has innovated in this Religion has with him a certain share of Shirk."
Then the noble Shaykh from Yemen quoted Shaykh ul-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah (rahimahullaahu Ta'aala), who said in his valuable book Iqtidaa` as-Siraatul-Mustaqeem, on page 453:
"Whoever calls to other than Allaah has associated (Ashrak), and whoever calls without His Permission has innovated (Ibtida'), and Shirk is Bid'ah, and the Mubtadi' (innovator) leads himself to Shirk, and you will not find an innovator except that you find in him a certain type and category of Shirk..."
Thereafer, Shaikh al-Wasabee (may Allaah aid him) said: "I say: So let the Muslim take great care and caution (and beware lest) he may call the people to Hizbiyyah (partisanship) or to Bid'ah (heresy). And it is upon him to call the people to their Creator (Subhaanahu wa Ta'aalaa) with what He has Legislated, and not with heresies and desires (Ahwaa`).
And the statement of Shaykhul-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah is taken from the statement of Allaah (Subhaanahu wa Ta'aalaa):
Allaah said:
لَهُمْ شُرَكَاءُ شَرَعُوا لَهُمْ مِنَ الدِّينِ مَا لَمْ يَأْذَنْ بِهِ اللَّهُ
Or have they partners with Allaah (false gods), who have instituted for them a religion which Allaah has not allowed. (Ash-Shooraa, ayah 21)
And Imaam ash-Shaatibee (d. 790H, rahimahullaah) has mentioned in his great book al-I'tisaam, a book which deals specifically with the science of bid'ah and the different principles of bid'ah, that: every person who has innovated in this Religion has with him a certain share of Shirk, whether that be major (Shirk Akbar) or minor (Shirk Asghar)." [End of Shaykh al-Wasaabe's tremendous advice]
Shaykh Rabee' said in his aforementioned explanation of Usool-us-Sunnah: "Bid'ah is built upon desires and misguidance. Allaah said (what means):
Have you seen him who takes his own lust (vain desires) as his ilaah (god), and Allaah knowing (him as such), left him astray, and sealed his hearing and his heart, and put a cover on his sight. Who then will guide him after Allaah? Will you not then remember? (Al-Jaathiyah, ayah 23)
Thus we seek refuge in Allaah from following desires. For this reason, the People of the Sunnah named the people of bid'ah 'Ahl Al-Ahwaa` (i.e. the people of desires),' because they opposed Allaah's religion and followed their desires. Examples of these people include: Al-Khawaarij, Ar-Raafidaah, Al-Mu'tazilah, Al-Jahmeeyyah, Al-Murji'aah, As-Soofiyah, Al-Hulooliyah, the people of Wahdatu Al-Wujood, the people who worship graves, and others like them. All of this bid'ah and misguidance opposes the Book of Allaah, the Sunnah of the Prophet (sallAllaahu 'alayhi wa sallam), as well as the fundamental principles of the Sunnah."
Earlier in the book, Shaykh Rabee' said: "There is nothing equal (and more cherished) than being safe from fitnah (i.e. bid'ah, disbelief, hypocrisy, etc). No one should put themselves in the situation where they can be tried and tested, especially the one who knows himself to be weak."
Shaikh-ul-Islaam ibn Taymeeyah (rahimahullaah) said: "No innovator tries to use a proof from the Qur`aan and Sunnah except that the proof is against him and not for him." Ibn al-Qayyim (rahimahullaah) said: "There is nothing in the Qur`aan that would give aid to or encourage bid'ah. Hence, never will the innovator be able to find evidence for his misguidance in the Qur`aan." [Ibn al-Qayyim, pg. 5, Ibn Katheer, vol. 1, pg. 55]
Imaam al-Fudayl Ibn 'Iyaad (d. 187H, rahimahullaah) said: "Had the innovator humbled himself to the Book of Allaah and the Sunnah of His Prophet (sallAllaahu 'alayhi wa sallam), he would not have followed his bid'ah. But he is amazed with his views, so he follows what he invented." [Adh-Tadzkirah Fil-Wadh, pg. 97]
Al-Hamdulillaah, Who has completed and perfected our Religion for us.
We ask Allaah for safety and well-being.
And Allaah knows best, and may the peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and companions. And our final call is that all Praise is for Allaah, Lord of all that exists.
